I have often heard that people suffocate without oxygen. I felt the effects of suffocation in the last 5 days in my room at IIT.
Day 1: Saturday
I get up early in the morning, when the sun has traveled only halfway across the sky. I have my breakfast and come to room to check my mails. - Try Again.
I go for lunch and come in the afternoon for checking mails - Try Again
Fine these things do happen to our wing. Lets wait...
Day 2: Sunday
I get up early in the morning, when the sun has traveled beyond halfway across the sky. I have my breakfast and come to room to check my mails. - Try Again.
I dont go for lunch (coz that was the breakfast) and wait till the afternoon for checking mails - Try Again
Now I need to meet the Comp Secy. The answer was a typical - "Vendor has to .... I will try to... Tomorrow we will ...". Thats ok, things have to wait another day.
Day 3: Monday
Class is at 11.30. Let me just see some news online - Try Again.
Come back from class for lunch. Meet the Comp Sec. Redirected to MLC. Meet the MLC. And the reply - "Vendor has to .... I will try to... Tomorrow we will ...".
No other option. Go to lab and check mail. Come back after evening class and check mail - Try Again.
Day 4: Tuesday
Today things have to work. Now meet the Sysad. - "I will talk to the comp sec and let u know"
Come back in evening after classes and check net connection - Try Again.
Day 5: Wednesday
The fifth day. They've got to be kiddin me! Meet the Comp Sec. Meet the SysAd. Meet the MLC. Meet anybody who comes on the way.
And then the MLC says -"Ya the vendor did come yesterday, but I forgot abt ur problem. Talk to ... and say ....". WHaaaaaaat? Forgot? And what have we been saying for the previous four days. Fine - call the 4th guy and get things into his head!
Day 6: Thursday
No use checking. Go to class. Go to lab and check mail. Come to room after lunch. Involuntarily open the web browser - Google search. WOW thats something new.
And now the suffocation reduces........ And this mail begins!
IIT Bombay is know for two things - 1. IIT Bombay itself, 2. The LAN Ban. But ever heard of a round the clock LAN Ban? This was it.
But do not worry. No major causalities were reported and that is why you would not have heard anything in the paper. Now things are back to normal and people are breathing freely.
